So I ran that list through a dual standard deviation filter (Yield 1 stddev above, and payout 1 stddev below) and found that only 5 companies passed that test.

That seems like a pretty small list to choose from, and a little financial heavy. It would produce an average yield of 3.76% though. Is there anywhere to grab a full list of dividend payers on the TSX?

I did that one and found a completely different list. Though I restricted it to common stock. There are a couple of doubles because of A and B shares but I ended up with:

For an average yield of 3.975. I wonder why SLF, BNS, and NA didn’t show up here. I did put in a floor of 3 year revenue and profit growth of 0.01 to get my list. I wonder if they didn’t make the cut thanks to 2008/09. Maybe I should redo it with just the dividend > 0 filter. Seems like that would be a pile of stocks to sift though.

I filter with p/e and p/b ….. some cos. don’t show.

MCAN … mkp-t ………. because of their structure they pay out (nearly) all income.

Hey, try our 2 lists of stock (on the right side of the side bar).

the top 10 and top 20 will give you some interesting options…

I like to look at the dividend paying history and the market cap. Depending on the risk you want to take with dividend paying company, large cap may be a filter. You may also want to filter against the Dividend Aristocrats. In Canada, they need to have increase the dividends for the past 5 years whereas in the US, it’s 25 years.
