Account Now Review

What is Account Now?

Account Now is a website offering one single service: they are selling prepaid debit cards. What are those? They are done by two companies: Prepaid Visa Card and Prepaid Mastercard. In fact, it has nothing to do with credit cards even though they are manufactured by the biggest credit card makers.

You can find the information on this financial product within the site and then apply in order to receive your card by mail. The process seems pretty straight forward.

What makes you want to visit this site?

A Prepaid debit card is used by people who wish to keep cash on them instead of leaving it in a bank account. Therefore, this card is designed for people with low level of income where banking fees will take too much away from their pay cheque and they prefer keeping their money on them. As a card is more obvious than $200 in your pocket, it is an easy and inexpensive way to manage your finance.

So if you are looking for an easy way to carry cash on you without having to bother about the pile of cash in your pocket, the prepaid debit card may be a great solution for you.

Is the product really helpful?

I knew about this financial product before writing this review. However, I didn’t know that prepaid debit cards were actually helping people building their credit history. I couldn’t verify this information but on Account Now, they mention that you are able to “charge your card”, use it, pay your other bills and then, build your credit history.

I guess this is probably related to the fact that Visa or Mastercard will report this card as active to the credit bureau agencies. As it is very hard for people who messed up with the creditors to start over again, this could be an easy way to start building your credit again.

They actually claim that they approve 100% of all applications. No wonder, there are prepaid cards 😉 More seriously, when you come out of a bankruptcy, it is really hard to get a regular credit card (while having credit cards is the easiest and fastest way to build a credit bureau), getting a prepaid debit card seems to be quite simple.

Can improvements be done?

I actually think that this site is well optimized. The design is great, clean and simple. You can find the information on what you are looking for very easily.

I really like the pie chart where it shows how the card work (charge, spend, pay bills, build credit). This image is clean and makes it easy to figure out why you would like to have such financial product.

On top of that, they offer a referral program! You can get $20 each time you refer someone. As the approval rate is 100%, this is just a matter of convincing people with this need to click on the site and your $20 is almost assured 😉
