Carnival of Money Stories #54 – My Old Man Thoughts Edition

Welcome to the 54th edition of The Carnival of Money Stories [1]! As my dad was my first model on how to handle money, I decided to let my father presents this carnival so he can share with you some of his thoughts about several topics. You may conclude that I learned more to do the opposite of what the does than listening to him!

Now son, get out the way and let me type on this weird machine called a computer!

old man thoughts [2]

My favourite sons –

I only have one son so I don’t have to care about favouritism within the family. So here are my favourites articles from this carnival:

They Want To Get Money Fast [3] by The Digerati Life [4]. I always tried to get rich quickly and it worked a few times. The problem is not to get rich, but to stay that way!

favorite son [5]

The Importance of Teaching Your Kids To Save [6] by Financial Learn [7].
I showed my son everything I knew about finance; he did what I told him to do instead of doing what I was doing.

How I Made $2,667 In Passive Income In March ’08 [8] by Living Off Dividends [9]. That’s my kind of stuff; doing nothing and looking at my wallet growing…

A Tale Of Two Doctors [10] by Paid Twice [11]. What a mess! I am glad to be Canadians and not to have to worry about medical insurance fine prints!

Whoring Out Your Spouse For Fun and Profit [12] by Punny Money [13]. ***Readers discretion advised***. Hum… it might be a solution….

– Saving Money –

save your money [14]

Saving Money, this is one thing I never did in my life. I don’t have too, I put all my money into my property! Renovation, amelioration and construction!

Payday Loans are Expensive [15] by Surfer Sam [16]. There are things in life that are quite expensive (like having a wife!)

but Payday loans are a huge waste of money. Surfer Sam found some alternatives.

Going bald is a blessing in disguise [17] by Pinchingcopper [18]. I’m turning 58 soon and I have all my hair. My son however, found that he was saving a good chunk of money every month by turning bald before 30!

Kroger’s 10 Item Mega Event [19] by Stop The Ride! [20] I love saving money at the grocery stores. This is why I sent my wife to do 5 grocery stores and use all the coupons she can. We are surely saving money even though it takes 4 hours to get everything every week!

Wedding Photography on a Budget [21] by My Daily Dollar [22]. My son’s wedding was one of the most beautiful days of my life. You gotta find a way to pay the expensive photographer!

Choosing A Student Credit Card [23] by Millionaire Money Habits [24]. I don’t need to choose the right credit card in order to save money, I take them all!!!

Pros And Cons Of A Free Term Life Insurance Quote Online [25] by Be Safe Insure [26]. Life Insurance? I’m kinda too old for that. However, if you have a young family, it is definitely a must!

Frugality Sucks [27] by The DebtFree Playbook Blog [28]. Yeah ! that’s what I am talking about! You have only one life to live. Go for it!

– Work Environment and Business –

business [69]

I you ever get tired of your boss, tell him to stick it and start your own business. If you are making 100K a year working for a company, tell yourself that they are making much more money on your back 😉

Business Loans – How To Get Your Business [74] by Physician Entrepreneur [75]. According to my experience, banks will only lend you money for your business once you are making so much money with it already. There is nothing like borrowing to family to make it happens!

Great Moments In Self-Regulation [76] by Trusted Advisor Associates [77]. You better checked twice with whom you are dealing with ‘cause nobody will protect you!

Are You Backable? [78] By Edith Yeung [79]. Many young and smart entrepreneurs have problem being “not backable”. That’s because banks don’t like to lend to people smarter than them.
