I am fresh, back from a week off up north in Quebec (Simon Lake if anyone knows about it). It’s a very remote place where there is not much to do besides enjoying the magnificence of the vacation property we rented, nature (mountains, lake and forest… simply beautiful in winter) and, something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time: read books by the fireplace. I’ve been trying to read the 4 hour workweek for the past 13 months! In fact, I received this book for Christmas…2009!
So during this week off I read 2 amazing books:
The 4 Hour Workweek – Tim Ferris
Crush it! – Gary Vay-Ner-Chuk 😉
The first one was obviously Tim’s book. When I put the book down after reading the last page (I literally devoured the book in one afternoon), I came to realize something. Something very big; I felt like I was in Star Wars: Tim Ferris is my father!
Where I optimize; He Masterizes!
While I am able to optimize my time, Tim find ways to multiply his own 24 hours per day. One thing I am trying to do that I got from his book was to manage my email twice daily instead of every 5 minutes ;-). He sets specific times when he manages his email no more, no less. It requires a lot of discipline but it makes sense.
This guys seems to be able to learn so many things in so little time. His trick? He simply focuses on the 20% of what really matters. When doing this, you sometimes have the feeling that you are not doing your job properly. But in fact, you are doing it in the most effective way possible!
4 days a week vs 4 hours a week
I managed to have a 4 day work week schedule at my day job with a similar process explained by Tim in his book. The only difference is that he pushes the principle to 4 hours a week! Obviously, his techniques can’t work if you are not working in a service business. I really wonder how you can drop your work week like this if you are in the construction industry!
Getting Online Income – The Option of the Future
If you have not started a website yet, please do these 4 things in this order:
#1 Call in sick tomorrow morning
#2 Head to Chapters
#3 Buy a Venti Corsé along with The 4 Hour Workweek and Crush it!
#4 Go back home and read these 2 books in a single day.
I actually did it during my vacation and I had the 2 books already. But I took 2 afternoons and a nice Starbucks coffee and it has just confirmed what I thought: online income is not only The income of the future but it is accessible for everyone with a passion.
So only one question remains; do you have a passion?Google+
