I would say it depends on how much you get from your paid info and how much it really worth (are you selling too high or not high enough).

Good content definitely drives traffic. If you have already good traffic, then, I guess you are better off making money from advertisement and your services

And it can be done. Our site does quite well. The Ad revenue is usually around $1000/mo. and then we have a service that does very well.

I’ve often wondered if we offered free info, if the ad revenue would pick-up and make up for the “lost” sales on the service side.
