Yes, reality has a way of derailing plans that we spend so much time creating.
That's why I don't keep anything on paper - I'm always updating, erasing, adding or subtracting.
Wow .. that's a lot of maternity leave!

Funny,
in Quebec (Canada), she would be on maternity leave as soon as she knows that she is pregnant in order to prevent health issues for the fetus.

However, if she starts her own daycare, she won't benefit from the same kind of insurance. Therefore, she would have to keep working until she gives birth. Quite a decision to make !

Wow! Where does she work that she gets 21 months of paid leave? Are you in the United States? If so, that's amazing.

Is there any reason she couldn't do the daycare while she's pregnant? The lady who used to care for my son after school had a daycare in her home. She had ten kids of her own (no joke!), and she would take in another half-dozen to help make ends meet. Most of her own children were school age, and the high-school-aged kids would sometimes help with the babysitting.

She gave birth to a beautiful baby while my son was in her care -- at that point, the only difficulty she had was seeing to it that the infant wasn't exposed to disease. One moron brought her preschooler with a case of chickenpox, and so the daycare was shut down for two weeks and firm new rules were put in place.

This lady was highly organized, very efficient at caring for kids and the home, and wonderful with children. If your wife has that kind of personality and lots of energy, she might pull it off...

Goal Hunter,
Congratulation!
I'm actually wondering about the same questions!
I hope that I don't have to buy a minivan ;-)

We actually plan on having 2 kids in the same bedroom in order to not move right away. We would prefer to have a room per kid but this requires to build another room on top of our garage (I guess it would be around 25K)

I am pretty sure that you can fit 3 kids (with their seat) in a SUV. I'll have to check it out ;-)

Good luck!

Hey, my wife's having number 3 also. She's due in March. This is new territory for me as my parents only had two. Do I need a minivan? A bigger house? The adventure continues.
