The goal is to feverishly work to create a source of passive income (and be patient), but once you succeed to do it all over again.

Waiting is the hardest part . About six months ago I started looking for ways to make extra income online, and found that the second hardest thing is to weed though all the make money online scams out there. I came across a website that was upfront on the time it would take to start earning income, unlike a lot of sites out there that claim you can make $1500.00 the very first week you start their program. I've been working at it for six week and now just starting to see a little income, not much but enough to pay a few small bills. But hey every bit helps and i'm still working at it to increase my income.

[...] Passive Income Also Means Patient Income! at The Financial Blogger — I mentioned several times before that it takes time and effort to build you income streams. This article shares that same thought and provides a great definition of passive income: “it’s an alternative source of income where your earnings are not linked to an hourly rate but rather on its capacity of creating wealth.” [...]

Patience is indeed a virtue.
But I agree that there's no source of truly passive income. I would call blogging, dividends, real estate alternative income or geographically independent income but not passive income.
Good luck in your passive income generation. I always enjoy reading about ways to increase my alternative income.

Scott,
waiting is the worst "hobby" one can ever had ;-)
Creating a passive source of income as a sideline is definitely the best alternative to help you wait!

Patience and waiting for something to happen can be grueling, especially when you have put in a lot of sweat equity. I think it can be helpful to have multiple income streams going, so that you can see what does work and what doesn't. Just like a good stock diversification, so should our passive income. Starting a company or writing an e-book is a tremendous venture, but we should also be prepared to wait for that first sale. I have to admit, I hate waiting :)
