Financial Ramblings
|
I am presently working on the next Carnival of Personal Finance that will be on next Monday, the 18th. I have received really good submission and I am really looking forward to present it! My cold is pretty persistent and I am getting behind with almost everything. I will need to take a moment and do some serious planning. |

Starting a new job requires a lot of energy. In fact, you are spending an awful lot of time to learn and understand the company’s philosophy. How people react and how they behave will teach you what your new boss didn’t include in his presentation! But learning the job is insufficient. The key point is to get along with everybody. Stop being the “new guy”. At the end of the day, it’s only a tough period you have to go through. I know that in 3 months, I’ll get in my office and setup my things as it is my second home. It’s only a matter of time!
I have learned a new frugal trick recently. I was receiving a magazine at home and I had pay for a two years contract. It ended up last October. I decided not to renew it not because I was not interested but more because I couldn’t find the time to read it anymore and I had the past 3 issues sitting in my bathroom getting more and more dust. It is a weekly periodic and I am still receiving it as of February! They keep sending me letter saying they will stop sending it to me if I don’t renew my contract. While I was expecting 2 or 3 free issues, I am quite surprise to see that I am still receiving it after 4 months! I even double checked my Master Card to be sure that they didn’t charge me. I guess that sometimes, companies can be more generous than you can imagine
The worst part is that, in the end, I may renew my subscription once I settle my schedule! It was definitely not a bad idea after all!
