Time for part two of epic shiz of the week.

Who’s the lucky winner this week?

Do You Need to be Super Smart to be Rich and Wealthy? @ The Extra Money Blog.

What’s so epic about this article?

Do you hate it when a friend feels bad because they don’t think that they’re smart enough to make money? I do. We all have the ability to make money. You don’t have to be a genius, a graduate from a top ten school, or come from a wealthy family. We can all reach our goals with a little hustle.

Sunil shares some personal stories to go into the whole topic of becoming rich without being what is considered “smart.”

My favorite line in this piece is in the concluding thoughts section…

“Not every successful business has to be a new idea or invention. In fact, the best chance for success is to take a proven model and replicate it.”

What did Mike have to say about this?

I once was in that race to get the highest position possible. When I started at my bank, I wanted to become a VP before I’m hitting 35. I thought that the corporate ladder was the only path for financial freedom and becoming rich.

Then, after a few years I’ve stopped climbing the ladder and started thinking smarter: why would I have to work 50-60 hours for the next 10-15 years to make a lot of money? Then, I asked myself what would I do with all that money now that I wouldn’t recognize my wife or my children? What’s the point of being rich when you didn’t have enough time to build solid relationship around you?

This is when I decided to work 4 days a week at a day job that I like (after doing my MBA, employer let me worked 30 hours a week ;-) ). And I am now concentrating 1 full day on my blogging empire.

I have been doing this for the past 2 years and I can tell that it had a tremendous change in life. I’m more healthy as I have time to go to the gym, I coach my 6 yr old son at soccer and I have plenty of time to go out with my wife. On top of that, I’m making more money now than I was 2 years ago when I was working 50 hours a week!

here’s my moto: don’t work harder, work smarter!

What do I have to say about this piece?

Hey, I wouldn’t post it if I didn’t like it. I personally always love the reminder that you really don’t have to be “intelligent” or “highly-educated” to make a living or to take care of yourself in this world. What’s holding you back? The only thing holding you back is usually you!

What do you have to say about this? You tell us…

Oh and don’t forget to send your epic shiz to thefinancialblogger @ this domain.

One more thing I’d like to add: among our group of students in university, my partner and I were the one with the worse marks. In fact, we were both B’s student as everybody around us were going for a GTA of 3.7+ (some reached 4.1!).

10 years later, we are probably the 2 guys with the best paying jobs + a side company… that’s kind of funny how diplomas don’t necessarily turn into money ;-).

I agree about the smartest guys in school. They learned to follow direction really well and have a hard time thinking out of the box. The ones that are creative and daring are doing just as well if not better than the ones with high GPA.

honored my friend. a roundup of some sort is on my never ending to do list – it’s a good idea to highlight some of the best stuff out there that resonates the most. thank you for the mention and I am glad we feel alike about this subject matter.

Hey Sunil,

my pleasure! I think you did a great job with this post and I want to highlight it! I’m having fun looking for “the” post of the week 😀

I agree TFB. I always enjoy reading your personal story and think about how I can think outside the box as well. Thanks for the inspiration that you offer (as well as the tips). I know this is how you are successful – people just keep coming back for more tips.

Ya, i also agree and like this sentence.

“Not every successful business has to be a new idea or invention. In fact, the best chance for success is to take a proven model and replicate it.”

Franchise is successful because it take proven model and replicate it. I like invest in franchise company. XD

This concept apply to building website too. You use the same technique and skill in building the website. You inspire me a lot, TFB!
