When Mike asked me to go into detail on the 3 different strategies I covered for making money online without blogging, I immediately wrote about freelance writing. Why? Because freelance writing was the only one that I’ve ever tried. The other strategies to earn an income online were options that I never tried. I also must confess that I have zero design/graphic skills (not to mention patience). Yet today I’ll be discussing how you can make money from blog design work.

I will never claim to be an expert, nor will I attempt to mislead you guys in any way. Instead I will conduct the necessary research and share my observations with you. Before I start writing about how you can make money from blog design work, I wanted to highlight two industry leaders from blog theme work and blog design work.

Blog theme work- Empty Cabin Media.

Blog logo work- Logos For Websites.

For anyone reading this that wants to make money from the behind the scenes work involved with blogging, I made a few critical observations. Before you setup your site to offer your services, you should check out a few of the key ingredients that I noticed from both of these websites and other blog design work related sites:

Testimonials.

We all love to hear from others. Word of mouth is notorious in most industries, and it’s surely no different in the online world. One bad review from a client on a forum could kill your online business. This is why it’s important that your service site includes a few positive testimonials from past clients. You also need to ensure that you don’t include any fake testimonials because if you’re potential clients find out, it can destroy your business.

Examples of work.

It’s important to show potential clients what you’re capable of. Anyone can claim to be great at designing blog logos or themes, but not everyone can prove it. It’s important to show examples of work that you’ve done in the past. If you’re proud of your work then you should be more than willing to show it off for others to see. Most individuals in this page create a portfolio or simply display examples of their work on the main page.

Clear call to action.

You must give your site browsers a clear call to action. What is it that you want your readers to do? Do you want them to pay for your services or do you want them to scroll for free content? Most sites in this field that I checked out had a clear “buy now” button ready in order to simplify your purchase.

There you have it. You’re now prepared to get your blog design site up and running (assuming you have the skills). When you’re not sure of something, just check the internet. No matter what niche you want to get into, chances are that there’s already someone out there doing it. Instead of silently watching from the sidelines, observe the best at what they do, and learn from them.

“Instead of silently watching from the sidelines, observe the best at what they do, and learn from them.” Well said!

There are dozens of ways to make money online and blogging is possibly one of the hardest to crack but to suggest writing as an alternative or other “swapping time for money” activities is just crazy IMHO. There are much easier ways to make money online but people just don’t “get” it.

Mike is right when he said there are different strategies for making money online without blogging. A person needs to conduct the necessary research online.
